The Marion Water Department
A minimum water and sewer bill is $24.05. That is for a usage of up to approximately 2000 gallons. All bills are mailed out the last working day of each month. We bill four to six weeks behind. If you do not receive your bill you may call the office to inquire as to how much the bill is and if we are mailing it to the proper mailing address.
If we have mailed the bill to the correct mailing address and you have not received it please contact the post office. You have from the day the bill is mailed until the sixteenth of every month to pay the bill without a late charge. From the seventeenth of the month to the twenty-fifth will then incur a late charge. Any time after the twenty-fifth the bill is not paid you are up for disconnect, unless you call the office and make arrangements. When calling the office to make arrangements you will be expected to give an exact date as to when you will pay the bill and if it is after 4:00 on the last working day of the month you will be expected to pay that bill and the next month’s bill.
Meaning if you request the date of the 31st you will be expected to pay before 4:00 which is the closing of the business day or you will have to pay that bill and the next month’s bill. The date you give will be documented and confirmed. If the full payment is not made by the time given, water will then be disconnected on the next business day and no extension will be granted for the next three months. If water is at any time disconnected for non-payment, you will need to pay a reconnect fee of $30.00 plus the outstanding bill or bills with an additional $5.00 each occurrence thereafter.
You have signed and received a security deposit receipt. This deposit cannot be used against a late bill; it can only be used against a final bill. Meaning if at any time your bill is not paid by the twenty-fifth of the month that your deposit will not keep your water from being disconnected because your deposit is on file, if you have not contacted us. You will need to keep your security deposit receipt so when you go off service you can use it against the final bill or you can pay the final bill in full and receive the full deposit in refund. If you no longer have the receipt when going off service we can have you sign a form for the deposit, but we do require something in writing for the auditors.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact the office, Monday thru Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm at (618)993-5610.
